2024 VGMTP Board of Studies 27th June

  • Dr Kim Jeffs was welcomed as the new Director of Training for the Northern Training Alliance . Kim is an experienced geriatrician at Northern Health. She has experience with education and research and will be a great asset to VGMTP.
  • Attendance at training sessions has increased in 2024 to 95 – 105 trainees. 
    • ATs report they are pleased to be consulted
    • We will take into account the reported impact of “Zoom fatigue” and the preference for panel discussions and case studies in addition to didactic presentations.
  • Communication Skills training feedback remains positive.
  • Advanced Training in Regional Victoria continues to be an issue for VGMTP. Discussions with Department of Health are ongoing. A meeting with directors of regional health services was held on 9th May 2024 and a second meeting is scheduled for 22nd August 2024.
  • VGMTP and The Department of Health have continued discussions regarding the establishment of a 4th training alliance (Rurally based).
  • VGMTP is pleased to welcome Tasmanian ATs to the program. Tasmanian trainees already have close links to many Victorian Health services and their involvement with VGMTP will improve their access to training.
  • Recorded training sessions continue to be well received. The FIGMS and VGMTP Nurse continue to create highlights packages.
  • The VGMTP Central Match for full-time ATs opens on 10th July. For further information see the Central Match page at www.vgmtp.org
